Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival

O Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival – LEFFEST realiza-se entre 8 e 18 de Novembro e regressa com uma programação diversificada onde há muito cinema, mas que inclui também música, literatura e artes plásticas. A novidade, este ano, é a abertura da secção competitiva à produção mundial e não apenas à europeia. Antestreias, homenagens e retrospectivas marcam o festival e trazem a Portugal nomes importantes do cinema como James Gray, Abdellatif Kechiche, Gianfranco Rosi, Wong Kar-Wai, Fanny Ardant, entre outros. Vários escritores são também convidados nesta edição. Paul Auster, Don DeLillo e J.M. Coetzee são algumas das figuras do mundo literário presentes no evento. Destaque ainda para a Mostra de Cinema Ibero-americano – 15 anos, 15 filmes, que acontece no Cinema Monumental (de 11 a 15 de Novembro) e que inclui a antestreia do filme Pelo Malo de Mariana Rondón.

A distribuição do Festival pelo Estoril, Cascais e Lisboa permite o acesso às melhores salas de exposição.

Em destaque:

Selecção Oficial – Fora de Competição

A par dos filmes em competição oficial, onde se destacam jovens cineastas emergentes, acontece a Selecção Oficial – Fora da Competição. Esta secção apresenta em antestreia nacional vários filmes de reconhecidos autores internacionais. Destaque para A Vida de Adèle: capítulos 1 e 2, de Abdellatif Kechiche, vencedor da Palma de Ouro de Cannes.  La Vénus à la Fourrure, filme de abertura do festival e o mais recente de Roman Polanski, e Inside Llewyn Davis, de Joel e Ethan Coen são outras das exibições a salientar.

Homenagens e Retrospectivas

O encenador, realizador e crítico português Jorge Silva Melo é um dos homenageados nesta edição do LEFFEST com uma retrospectiva dos seus filmes e uma leitura pública. James Gray é outro dos realizadores homenageados. O americano vem a Portugal apresentar o filme de encerramento,  The Immigrant e dar uma masterclasse. Gianfranco Rosi e Alain Guiraudie também marcam presença no evento, que inclui retrospectivas dos dois realizadores.  Sacro Gra, vencedor do Leão de Ouro de Veneza e o Desconhecido do Lago, são as antestreias que vêm apresentar.

Cinemart – Street Art

O LEFFEST cruza com o cinema outras formas de arte. Paralelamente realizam-se também espectáculos de música e dança, assim como uma exposição. VHILS, cujo nome de nascença é Alexandre Farto, é o artista de arte urbana em destaque no festival.

The Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival - LEFFEST takes place between 8 and 18 November and returns with a diversified program where there are a lot of movies, but it also includes music, literature and fine arts. The novelty this year is the opening section of the competitive world production and not just European. Premieres, retrospectives and tributes mark the festival and bring Portugal big names of cinema as James Gray, Abdellatif Kechiche, Gianfranco Rosi, Wong Kar-Wai, Fanny Ardant, among others. Several writers are also invited in this issue. Paul Auster, Don DeLillo and JM Coetzee are some of the figures of the literary world in the event. Also noteworthy was the Film Festival Ibero-American - 15 years, 15 films, held at Cinema Monumental (11-15 November) and includes the premiere of the film Pelo Malo Mariana Rondon.

The distribution of the Festival at Estoril, Cascais and Lisbon allows access to the best showrooms.

Official Selection - Out of Competition

A couple of films in official competition, which features young emerging filmmakers, happens to Official Selection - Out of Competition. This section presents national premiere in several films from renowned international authors. Highlight for Life of Adèle: Chapters 1 and 2 of Abdellatif Kechiche, winner of the Golden Palm in Cannes. La Venus a la Fourrure, opening film of the festival and the latest from Roman Polanski, and Inside Llewyn Davis, Joel and Ethan Coen are other views to stress.

Tributes and Retrospectives

The director, filmmaker and critic Portuguese Jorge Silva Melo is one of this edition of LEFFEST honored with a retrospective of his films and a public reading. James Gray is another of the filmmakers honored. The American comes to Portugal to present the closing film, The Immigrant and give a masterclasse. Gianfranco Rosi and Alain Guiraudie also present at the event, which includes retrospectives of the two filmmakers. Saco Gra, winner of the Golden Lion in Venice and Unknown Lake, are the premieres coming submit.

Cinemart – Street Art

The LEFFEST intersects with other art forms theater. Alongside are also held performances of music and dance, as well as an exhibition. VHILS, whose birth name is Alexandre Farto, is the artist featured in the urban art festival.
